Picture Formats DeskPicture can open and display pictures of the following types: PICT Color Startup Screen EPS Photo CD™ images (when QuickTime 1.5 or later and the Kodak Photo CD Translator are installed) PICT is the preferred format for DeskPicture graphics; it uses the least RAM, can be processed in the background while you’re doing other things, and is generally faster to display. You can obtain additional pictures through online services, vendors who supply graphics on floppy disks or CD-ROMs, and you can of course create your own using one of the many graphics applications available for the Macintosh. DeskPicture also supports the “Claris XTND System” and translators that can be obtained from third-party vendors. The folder named “XTND filters” next to this document contains four XTND filters that can be put into the “Claris Translators” folder. This will allow DeskPicture to open GIF, B&W Startup Screen, WallPaper™, and MacPaint™ documents. When the XTND system is properly installed, the “Claris Translators” folder can be found inside the “Claris” folder which itself resides inside your system folder.
